A-10A Thunderbolt (Early)
The A-10A Thunderbolt II is a legendary attack aircraft developed in the 1970s. This preliminary modification carries an alternate array of suspended weaponry.
The A-10A is armed with the 30 mm GAU-8/A rotary cannon with powerful HVAP rounds and a fire rate of 4,200 rounds per minute. It can also carry a wide array of ground ordnance, including several types of unguided bombs from 500 to 2000 lbs, a wealth of unguided Hydra rockets, and 20 mm gun pods if the GAU-8 isn’t enough firepower for you! In addition, it can also equip AGM-65B Mavericks and GBU-8 TV-guided bombs, a weapon type not found on the later A-10A. It also comes with a pair of AIM-9L Sidewinders for air defense, as well as a large number of countermeasures — 480 in total!
The A-10A is a highly potent strike aircraft with a wide range of weaponry to tailor to any situation, and its impressive amount of countermeasures and AIM-9Ls will make enemy fighters think twice about getting close.
