Late Night Chats

In this game you play through a series of late night conversations within a dysfunctional friend group, while the narrator awkwardly judges every decision you make. It’s intense, suffocating, and a little unhinged. "I need to go back, I need to change my choices." - My Mom

Late Night Chats is an intense visual novel written by Vincent Finley with art by Houda Lambarqui.

You navigate a series of late night conversations, making choices that impact the narrative. After each conversation, the game's narrator comments on your choices and what they say about you.

"It's like sitting with a friend in the back corner of your head, screaming at you, but in a caring way." - Monika

As you move through the game, the narrator also assigns you labels based on what kind of person you are, such as "a big lemon", "THE BRUTALIZER", "a slutty snake", "a psychopath", and "the king of the nerds".

"I gotta get more labels. I love labels." - also Monika (I have limited friends.)

My goal in making this game was to enable you to immerse yourself in that very specific feeling of talking to someone late at night. Spilling secrets and vulnerabilities while half tired and half drunk.

But let’s be honest, I’m not freaking J.D. Salinger so sometimes it’s more awkward than poetic.

“I wrote all this literally drunk I will say.” - Me

I hope you take something from this game, even if it's just that you felt less alone for an hour or two.
