Wire glowing nodes into a sprawling machine that downloads, scans, compresses and sells data. Mine coins with your GPUs, hack corporations from a terminal and hold off the botnets coming for your wallets.

Write the code. The drones do the rest.

LuaQuest is a programming and automation game. There is no character to steer: you write the Lua script that drives your drones, then watch them till, plant, water and harvest your 3D farm, from dawn to a starry night.

Learn Lua by playing

  • 11 levels, 39 missions: variables, loops, conditions, functions, tables, threads, events… Every concept you learn becomes a new drone ability.

  • The Lua of game-server scripting: threads, waits, network events, commands, vectors, JSON, all the way to a real client and server.

  • For every skill level: Beginner (a fully guided first level and a plain-language “Understand the concept” card for each new idea), Novice or Expert.

  • Code or nodes: type the Lua yourself or link blocks; the code they produce is shown alongside.

A living farm to automate

  • Giant pumpkins, sunflowers, cacti to sort, mazes and treasure: every crop is a small algorithm puzzle.

  • Day and night, rain showers that water your crops, rainbows and fireflies; the music grows richer with every busy drone.

  • Up to eight drones at once: now optimize.

Real developer tools

  • Debugger: breakpoints, step by step, local and global variables.

  • Replay: scrub through every moment of a run and race the ghost of the reference solution.

  • Live code analysis, autocompletion, multi-file projects with require.

  • VS Code sync, and export your farm as a resource ready for your own server.

Challenges and leaderboards

49 achievements, a new challenge every week, challenges between friends and optional online leaderboards: the server replays your script to time it fairly.

A home-made renderer

LuaQuest runs on its own 3D engine, written in Rust: physical sky, clouds, evening light, grass in the wind, rain that soaks the ground. From Low settings for modest PCs up to Ultra, with a photo mode to keep your best harvests.
