A story-driven property-trading board game built on The Landlord's Game, Lizzie Magie's 1904 original. Buy land, charge rent and strike deals with characterful rivals or friends online, under her ruthless Monopolist rules or her Prosperity rules, where everyone can win.
The board game that came first.
In 1904, Elizabeth "Lizzie" Magie patented The Landlord's Game. She designed it to teach a lesson: let a few players buy up all the land, and everyone else goes broke. She gave it two sets of rules. Under one, the winner bankrupts everyone else. Under the other, the whole table prospers together. One of those games went on to conquer the world. The other was nearly forgotten.
The Landlords brings both back to life.
Leap into history
Doctor Sam Bucket has stepped into a time machine and vanished. He wakes up in the bodies of strangers across early 20th-century America, guided by AL, a wisecracking hologram only he can see, and PIGGY, a handheld supercomputer. To get home, Sam has to play his way through the real, little-known history of the world's most famous property-trading game.
Play alongside Lizzie Magie as she shows off her invention.
Visit Arden, Delaware in 1916, a single-tax colony where the game was played by the people it was written for.
Head to the Atlantic City boardwalk, where Quaker families gave the board the street names that made it famous.
Face real historical figures at the table, each with their own voice, opinions and running commentary on your every move.
Monopolist or Prosperity: you choose
Play by Magie's original Monopolist rules and squeeze your rivals dry, or switch to Prosperity, where utilities and railroads are gradually nationalised, wages rise as colleges are built, and the game is won when the poorest player has doubled their money. Pick a Classic or Modern preset, or build your own ruleset from the ground up.

AI opponents with distinct personalities and difficulty levels
Hand-crafted animal tokens that trot, waddle and hop around the board
