As a Transport for Wales driver, work on the English side of the border out of the busy hub of Birmingham, through the suburbs, and across the hillside towns to historic Shrewsbury!
The aptly named Shrewsbury and Birmingham Railway was a joint line constructed in conjunction with multiple companies as an intended offshoot from the Stour Valley Line. Built to meet local demands, the S&BR quickly became an important mainline, at least once a temporary terminus in Wolverhampton was replaced with a through station. Since electrification arrived on the West Coast Main Line however, traffic changed tone to primarily be a long-distance secondary line connecting the West Midlands, Shropshire and onward to Wales.
In Train Sim World, navigate your way out of bustling Birmingham New Street and through commuter towns towards Wolverhampton, before taking a turn westbound and weaving through the Shropshire countryside! Call at notable towns such as Telford and Cosford, and arrive at historic Shrewsbury, complete with Severn Bridge Junction signal box, the World’s largest working mechanical signal box.
Speedy service awaits aboard the BR Class 158/8, homegrown by All Aboard Studios for express Transport for Wales operations. Working on the “wrong” side of the Severn, run one of several cross-border Trafnidiaeth Cymru services bound for principal English destinations.
With layers aplenty (each available separately) populate the West Midlands with their own DMUs, as well as Northwestern EMUs and Avanti West Coast services from London.
