Knights v Zombies

Q1 2027ActionAdventureCasualIndieWindows

Knights. Zombies. Pirate ships. Giant robots. A chaotic 1-4 player couch co-op hack and slash that starts medieval and ends in maximum carnage. If that sounds like the ravings of a six-year-old, that's because it is! It was designed by a kid with crayons and built by his dad in Unreal Engine.

The dead are walking, the kingdom is on fire, the king is terrified, and your only hope lies with the ancient remains of a giant robot that was scattered across the kingdom ages ago.

Knights v Zombies is a 1-4 player local couch co-op hack and slash adventure with the structural integrity of a six-year-old's daydream and the production values of a software engineer who's addicted to Humble Bundles.

Six levels. Six wildly different vibes.

  • The Castle - Zombies in the throne room. Smash the furniture on the way out; the king's insurance will cover it.

  • The Village - The houses are burning. The villagers have fled. The helicopters are looking for a safe place to land. Wait, what?

  • The Forest - Grass warriors and spiders and rock monsters, oh my!

  • The High Seas - Because I wanted to make a game about pirates and Rare wouldn't give me a job.

  • The Mountain Caves - You ride giant ants here. Don't worry about it.

  • The Undead Kingdom - A massive fortress that could only be penetrated by a fifty-foot robot. Oh, you have one now? How convenient!

If you're still here after the giant ants, you might be the target audience. Here's the rest:

Features

  • 1-4 player local couch co-op

  • ~45 minutes of escalating chaos, start to credits

  • Hack and Slash combat that gets increasingly anachronistic...

  • Built in Unreal Engine 5 by a 6 year old boy (now 7, or probably 8 by the time I actually finish this), plus his dad who "just puts it in the computer."

  • Plug in up to four controllers. Keyboard works too, but a mouse is awkward on the couch...

This game is not: an open-world RPG, a roguelike, a soulslike, competitive, online, or the kind of game you'll be playing for 80 hours. It's a small silly thing you play on a couch with people you like.

If you have a couple controllers and a kid, a friend, or a cat with opposable thumbs, then give it a try! Net proceeds go to the creative director's college fund and my Humble Bundle addiction.
