Gap Storm is an original shedding-style card game built on a single, razor-sharp idea: when you beat the card in front of you, the penalty isn't fixed — it's the gap between your number and the last one, multiplied by your combo type. Slam an 8 onto a 3 and the next player who folds draws (8-3)x1. Drop a pair of 9s onto a pair of 3s and that gap becomes (9-3)x2 = a brutal twelve-card storm. Play the smallest winning card and you barely sting them. Every single turn is a live risk/reward calculation.First to empty their hand wins. Simple to learn in a minute — a lifetime to master.
The mechanics that make it sing
- Differential penalty draw — singles x1, pairs x2, triple-with-kicker x3. The gap is recalculated every play, never stacked.
- Bombs — four of a kind beats anything and forces a flat 8-card draw. Bigger bombs crush smaller ones.
- The 10 steals — every 10 you play yanks a random card from whoever holds the most. Pairs and triples of 10s steal two and three.
- Event cards — eight chaos cards seeded into the deck flip face-up as a warning, then strike the next player to draw: supply runs, forced swaps, direction reversals, x2 storms and more.
- Deep house rules — hand size, number range (1-8 to 1-13), cards per number, bomb penalty, event mix, multipliers, match length. Tune it from a 5-minute brawl to a 10-minute strategy duel.
Adventure — a roguelike of rule-breakers
A full single-player run that rivals the deckbuilders you love. Fight through three regions and 17 duels against opponents who each bend the rules in their own way:- 10 rule-bending foes — the Hoarder who busts if it floods, the Sniper who doubles single-card gaps, the Oracle who literally reads your hand, and elites who turn your own pairs against you.
- 3 bosses — the Rhythm King who pumps the penalty every few turns, the Edict Lord who bans single cards, and the Storm Emperor who doubles every multiplier.
- 26 items + curses — drafted three-at-a-time after each win. Stack relics, gamble on a Legendary that demands a curse, and build a run that breaks the game in your favor.
- 3 lives & Storm Heat — flat lives keep one bad hand from deleting an hour-long run, and three ascension tiers keep the climb tense long after your first clear.
Modes
- Classic — 2-4 players. Fill empty seats with three difficulties of AI, or play with friends.
- Online with friends — host a room and share a 6-digit code; join over LAN, direct connect, or the Steam relay backbone (no port forwarding). Drop-out seats are taken over by AI.
- Adventure — the solo roguelike above.
- Interactive tutorial — learn the gap, the bomb and the steal hands-on in two minutes.
