Malvinas (Falklands), 1982, from the Argentine cockpit. A pixel-art arcade flight game based on real sorties: bombs that often didn't explode, fuel that never quite lasted, Harriers on the hunt and an unforgiving radar. Fly low, drop on time and come back.

One goal: fly low and come back.

April 1982. Esteban, "Tero", joins the Fieles de Plata, a squadron of A-4s about to take on the British fleet at sea level. Across the water, in a foxhole on the islands, is his son Mateo.

Our version

The Fieles de Plata are a fictional squadron flying through real events. Between missions there's the hangar, the mate, the mechanics patching up the planes, and the letters from a soldier on the islands. The war told by those who flew out, and by those waiting for them to come back.

Rasante is a pixel-art arcade flight game that tells the story of the Falklands War from the cockpit: missions based on real events, dates and fleets, and a story about those who fly out and those who wait for them to return.

Every mission is built on real information: the dates, the ships, the aircraft, the weapons and the conditions they flew in. As you play, you'll understand why they had to fly right on top of the water, why so many bombs hit and didn't explode, and how much every sortie depended on the fuel that was left.

What you'll learn by playing

  • How to fly low. That's how the pilots hid from British radar. Climb, and they see you.

  • That radar shows no mercy. Every alarm sends Harriers after you, and the only way to lose them is to drop back down and hold on.

  • That the fuel wasn't enough. Without the Hercules tanker refueling you in mid-air, there's no way there and no way back.

  • That bombs didn't always explode. Dropped too low, they didn't have time to arm, a real problem in 1982. You'll miss, go around for another pass, and sometimes you'll hit and it won't go off.
