The Light is dying. You must restore it. Lead a party of six through the city of Sómariel and the dungeons beneath it in a first-person, grid-based dungeon crawler in the old tradition.

The Light is dying.

The Light keeps the world living and in order, but it does not last on its own. It has to be renewed every generation. A Tale of Light begins in the first of three cities, Sómariel, with six adventurers of your choice.

Lead a party of six.

Build every adventurer yourself, choosing from seven races, four classes, genders, and hundreds of portraits. Warriors, Paladins, and Rogues protect the Earthwarden in the party, who is responsible for the Light.

Explore the town.

Meet NPCs that provide services and offer advice. Experience the change from day to night, while the weather cycles between rain, fog, storms, and snow, depending on your adventure.

Under the city lies the Marrow, three floors down.

Fight in turns.

Give every member of the party an order, then watch the round play out based on their stats that you choose when leveling up. Melee reaches only the front rank, so placement in the party matters. Attack, hide, backstab, cast, or run.

Decide what to carry.

Torches burn down and lanterns consume oil. The spoils from a fight take precious inventory slots. Each character has dedicated item slots for weapons, shields, wands, helms, and more.

Manage resources.

One purse and one pack serve the whole party. Spell points come back only under the open sky by day, or for a fee at the magic shop. Gold can be spent on items to help your party and for training to the next level. You'll sometimes need to decide one over the other.

Play it the old way. Or immerse yourself.

The console view frames the world in stone, with the party and the parchment beside it, reminiscent of 80s/90s blobbers. Immersive View fills the screen.
