ChessGuardians - Lichess.org

Connect ChessGuardians with and bring online chess directly into the world of ChessGuardians.

The Integration DLC connects ChessGuardians to the official Lichess services, allowing you to play online, challenge friends, face Lichess bots, import games, create matches, watch live games and access a range of multiplayer features without leaving ChessGuardians.

Play Online

Create matches with your preferred settings, including:

• Games against Lichess bots and computer opponents

Your moves are played through the official Lichess API while ChessGuardians provides the board, pieces, environments and gameplay presentation.

ChessGuardians also supports Lichess chess variants, allowing you to enjoy alternative rule sets beyond standard chess.

Supported variants include:

• Chess960
• King of the Hill
• Three-check
• Antichess
• Atomic
• Horde
• Racing Kings

Variant availability may depend on the game type, matchmaking mode and functionality currently exposed through the official Lichess API.

Challenge Your Friends

Invite your Lichess friends directly to a match and experience your games inside ChessGuardians.

Direct challenges also allow additional time-control options that are not available through the public matchmaking Lobby.

Lichess Bots

Challenge bots available through the Lichess ecosystem and play against them using the ChessGuardians interface.

Bot availability, rating and configuration depend on Lichess and the individual bot accounts available through its services.

Import Your Games

Import games from Lichess and experience them inside ChessGuardians.

Revisit previous matches, review your games and use supported ChessGuardians visualization and analysis features without manually managing PGN files.

Watch Live Games

Follow ongoing Lichess games directly inside ChessGuardians and watch matches unfold using the ChessGuardians boards, pieces and environments.

Time-Control Limitations

ChessGuardians uses the official Lichess Board API for gameplay. Because of restrictions currently imposed by Lichess on this API, some faster time controls cannot be supported.

UltraBullet and Bullet are not available in ChessGuardians because Lichess does not currently permit these time controls through the Board API used by third-party applications.

Blitz is supported for direct challenges with friends and games against computer opponents, but it is not available through the public Lichess Lobby.

These restrictions are defined by Lichess and its API, rather than by ChessGuardians. If Lichess expands its official API support for these modes in the future, ChessGuardians may be able to support them as well.

Rapid, Classical and Correspondence games are supported through the Lichess Board API according to the options made available by Lichess.
