The Flying Dutchman wasn't built to be the best boat in the game. It was built to be the most beautiful one. Hollow hull, torn sails, and half of it isn't really there — the hull of a ship that stopped weighing anything, haunted and not the least bit sorry.

It doesn't buy you an edge

Its hold isn't the largest in the fleet, and the fish that comes out of it isn't worth a cent more. What you get is the silhouette: the ship crossing the rain, lighting up in the Glowing Waters off Noronha, cut out of the dark by lightning at sea. The championship stays just as fair for people who bought this and people who didn't.

A parrot that explains nothing

It flies around the boat and keeps an eye on the horizon. It doesn't fish, doesn't help, and doesn't eat your catch. It's just there — and that's enough.
