You bought the cheapest plot of land in town. Then the first tax bill arrived. Gather, craft, automate — link your workshops into a trade network, ship goods across the sea, and get rich enough to show the City-State who's boss.

Half a lifetime of silk, fur and spice behind you, and you walk into Squirrelton at dusk. You spend most of your savings on a patch of land, and at first you do it all yourself — gather, craft, carry, sell.

Then the first tax bill arrives. Every week the taxes grow heavier, and you learn to make every coin count. Little by little the workshop grows, and hands are hired. They run the lines, and slowly the place starts working without you. You lead your crew into the dangerous ruins, where treasure waits — hoping that one day you'll have the muscle to run the tax men off your land.

You get rich. There is a second workshop, then a third. You build relay posts, move goods between them, and ship out of your harbor to continents across the sea. You grow, and keep growing, until you can stand up to the City-State itself.

Run your workshop

It all starts with a battered old crafting table, and at first you do everything yourself. Chop trees, quarry stone, cut wild grass; plant wheat, mill it into flour, bake it into bread... then set the goods on your counter for the townsfolk to buy. Food sells steadily but the margins are thin — tools make money fast. Yet a crew of workers is waiting to be fed, and without bread, nothing gets done...

Feed a crew of workers

You can't run it all alone forever. The tavern always has hands waiting for work, and the hiring broker at the monthly market can point you to real talent. Once hired, they're yours to command: production, hauling, fighting at your side, even scouting the ruins for you. While you're battling through the depths, the tables back home keep turning — just remember to stock the chest with enough bread to keep them fed.

Explore the ruins in the wilds

Spend your earnings on yourself: gear up, stock the production lines, then set out. Throwing darts, bread, potions, summon scrolls — all of it sharpens your edge in combat, and the ruins are packed with valuables waiting to be claimed. The Ruin Tokens you bring back can be traded at the Adventurers' Guild for cutting-edge technology.

Crushing taxes keep you gasping for air — and they only get heavier over time. You have to figure out which production line earns the most, and let the profits snowball.

More people in town are fed up than you'd think. When you're ready, lead your workers and the volunteer townsfolk, drive out the garrison and the tax men, and end this endless taxation for good! Bring the town back to life.

The workshop trade network

The threshing ground suits farming and forestry; the Iron Ridge workshop is built right on top of an iron vein; relay wagons shuttle cargo between your workshops, sorting and delivering by crate type — together they form a sprawling trade network. Save up enough to buy a ship at the harbor, haul your finished goods to port, and sell them to distant continents.

The City-State won't let it go — they'll stand in your way at every turn. When you're strong enough, manufacture armaments, ship them to the front line, and once you're fully prepared, settle the final score with the City-State face to face!
