Vern’s racing days are over, but the cars stayed. Start with the old two-door and work your way through a collection chosen for how each car drives and the roads it belongs on.

Hardpack Rally is a single-player arcade rally game about learning a car and getting quicker behind the wheel. Carry a slide through woodland bends, judge your braking over a mountain crest, and bring it together in a run that beats Vern’s time. Each new set of keys brings a different car to learn, and another note from Vern.

Four cars. Four chapters.

Start in the rear-wheel-drive Dimmer 1990cc, then earn the all-wheel-drive Montara 92, the rear-wheel-drive Hayai Turbo and the Atlas Raid, a rugged AWD rally-raid machine built for long distances.

Each car brings a different balance of power and grip to learn across point-to-point stages and circuits. Beat Vern’s target time in every event to open the next chapter. Learn where to brake, where to let the car slide, and where you can carry a little more speed.

Beat the Developer

Vern’s times earn you the keys. The developer’s records give you something tougher to chase. Take on runs personally driven by Andre Gomes and follow his ghost to see where there’s time to find.

Beat a record to earn a stamp on that event. Beat every developer record for a car to unlock an exclusive livery. Vern’s times keep the story moving. These records are there for when you want to push further.

What's in it

• Chase your best run. Line up against your own ghost and find the seconds you left behind.
  
• Watch it back. Stop for the view. Revisit a run from different camera angles, or frame your car and the surrounding landscape in photo mode.
