Real engineering simulation with any projectile, any target, any material. Test Fire is an armor penetration sandbox built on finite element analysis (FEA), with a campaign of engineering challenges and a free editor for making (and breaking) whatever you want.

Real FEA Simulation

Every impact is solved with FEA. Armor deforms, cracks, shatters and spalls based on the material and the load. Slope, thickness and spacing all matter. Rounds ricochet, break apart, or get stopped halfway through.

Any Target

Draw armor in any 2D shape at real-world scale. Layer materials, slope plates, and leave gaps for spaced armor. Add explosive reactive armor. In the campaign, every extra layer costs you money and weight.

Any Projectile

Build any 2D projectile you can think of: full-calibre AP, APCR, APFSDS, HEAT, HE, or something that doesn't have a name yet. Shape, length and material decide how it penetrates and how it breaks up.

Any Material

Materials run on real material data, including strength, hardness, toughness and density. Ceramic shatters, steel bends, and you can make your own in the material editor.

Watch It Break

Replay every shot at any speed. Overlays show velocity, stress, damage and material, so you can see exactly where it failed.

Engineering Challenges

Two campaigns that run from World War I to the modern day, many based on real vehicles and ammunition.
  • Armor Campaign: Stop the incoming round without going over the cost and weight limits.
  • Projectile Campaign: Design a round that gets through the armor.
Every level is scored on cost and weight, with leaderboards for the cheapest and lightest solutions.

Free Editor

Draw, erase, fill, shapes, layers, copy and paste, and mirror. The Sandbox has no limits. Save your designs, share them, and import other players' designs to test against your own.
