You're a nobody with a small flat, an empty bank account and a dream of seeing your name in lights. Media Mogul is a business simulation in which you build a media empire from the ground up: from your first shift on the job to running a television network watched by millions.

Start at the Bottom

Take a job as a delivery driver, a dishwasher, a cashier or a librarian to pay the rent. Study for your journalism certificate, land an internship and work up through the newsroom, manage, and the career you build is the foundation of everything that follows.

Launch Your Own Newspaper

Register your own paper and fill its sections: Politics, Crime and more. Hire reporters who specialise in each beat and keep a steady flow of stories coming.

Go On Air

When the paper's profits allow it, buy a broadcasting licence and launch your own television channel. Produce:

• Newshour: your channel's flagship, news show

• News Talk Shows: a presenter and a panel taking the day's stories apart

• Morning Shows: two presenters on the sofa for the breakfast crowd

• Celebrity Talk Shows: star hosts, famous guests, big audiences

• Competition Series: quiz, singing and cooking contests

Every show needs its crew: producers, writers, anchors and presenters, camera operators, on-air operators, video editors and sales officers. Hire well, seat them right, and watch the viewing figures climb.

Build It Your Way

Rent land and design every room yourself: newsrooms, offices, canteens, control galleries and full studio sets. Build walls, raise storeys, place doors and windows, and furnish them. Every object can be recoloured and retextured, and you can save your favourite looks as presets.

Character Creator

A detailed character creator lets you shape your face and body, choose a hairstyle and pick your wardrobe. The staff you hire are made the same way, so every face in your studio is one of a kind.

Make Your Own Cities

The built-in World Editor lets you design cities of your own: lay roads and junctions, shape the land and coastline, plant parks and gardens, mark out lots, build streets and buildings.
