Build your own robot from blocks, let AI teach it to walk, and race it. Giraffe, snake, or a shape no one has seen before: the AI finds its own way to run. Take on 8 courses with obstacles, waves, and moving floors in local races or online with up to 4 players.

Build. Train. Race.

RoboRace is a 2D physics game where you build robots from blocks, let AI (reinforcement learning) teach them to walk, and race them.
No programming required. Design a body, start training, and your robot figures out how to run on its own.

Build Your Robot from Blocks

Place blocks such as squares, triangles, and quarter circles on a 20×20 grid, then add joints like arms, pistons, suspensions, and hinges. There are 14 kinds of parts in all.
Tune each part's motor strength, motor speed, and range of motion. How many legs, where it bends, where the weight sits: it's all up to you.

AI Teaches Itself to Walk

When training begins, your robot flops and tumbles. Little by little it starts moving forward, until it finds a gait of its own. Run up to 16 robots at once and watch them learn on a split screen.
  • Focus Practice: pick a tricky section and drill just that part
  • Move Hints: pause training and drag the robot's parts to hint at its next move. When you resume, the AI tries it and keeps it if it goes faster
  • Advanced Settings: fine-tune how it learns, such as how much it avoids falling, how far it looks ahead, and how big its brain is
  • Model Merge: race two AIs side by side and combine the faster run from each section into one AI

8 Courses and Stackable Special Rules

100m Dash, 300m Dash, Mountain Course, Obstacle Race, Rough Road Race, Water Course, Moving Course, and Eco 300m. Slopes, steps, stairs, big rolling waves, and rising floors stand in your robot's way.
In Eco 300m, everyone starts with the same battery, and moving arms and pistons drains it. Save power and go as far as you can.
Mix and match the special rules Glass Core, Headwind, Nuisance Blocks, 3-Race Series, and Reposition (online only) as you like.

Watch Out for the Bomb

In every race, 30 seconds after the start, a walking bomb comes chasing from behind. Any robot it catches blows up on the spot and retires. There's no time to stand still.

Local Races and Online Battles

In local races, test your robot against the built-in robots and robots from the Workshop.
Online, race with up to 4 players (empty slots are filled by stand-in robots). Cheer each other on with reactions during the race, then head to the podium.

Steam Workshop

Share your robots on the Workshop, trained AI included. Subscribe to other players' robots to race them in local races. They may even show up as stand-in robots in online races.
