A Game About Pulling A Rope

A rope comes flying out of the well in your yard. Pull it. Things far too big for a well squeeze out: carts, church bells, somebody's house. Sell them, buy a winch, buy a horse, and keep pulling to find out what is tied to the other end.

One morning a rope comes flying out of the well in your yard. So you pull it.

Something is tied to it. Then something else. A bottle. A barrel. A cart that has no business fitting down a well, squeezing out of the stones like toothpaste and springing back to full size on your lawn.

A woman has set up a market stall by your fence. She was not there yesterday. She will buy everything.

Pull

  • Haul the rope hand over hand, or brace it and walk backwards when the load gets heavy.
  • Over a hundred different things come up, from apples to anvils to whole buildings.
  • Sometimes whatever is down there pulls back.

Sell

  • Carry what you find to the stall, or sell it where it lies for less.
  • Buy gloves, boots and a belt to pull harder and carry more.
  • Some loads will not move by hand. Buy a winch. Then a horse. Keep the horse fed.

Keep pulling

  • The day moves with the rope, not the clock: morning, sunset, night, and whatever comes after.
  • Things start coming up that do not belong in this world. Then things that belong to you.
  • The rope has an end. A short game, finished in an evening.
