Port Aldrich, 1920. You start as a young nobody and follow your family for eighty years. Rackets, businesses, elections or a police badge: in this city everyone plays by the same rules as you, and nobody forgets.

Blood & Ledger is a strategy game about one family, generation after generation, in a made-up American port city from 1920 to 2000.

You don't run an empire or an army. You play one person. They grow old, make friends and enemies, have children, and one day they die. Then you carry on as their heir, with whatever they left behind: money, a name, debts and secrets.

Do it your way

Nobody tells you what to do. You can hold a neighborhood through fear, buy up its shops one by one, get elected to the city council or join the police. And it all mixes: a crime boss can own a laundry, pay off a detective and get his son into city hall.

Nothing comes free

Everything takes weeks or months and costs something: money, a favor, your reputation. Hand a job to someone and they might pull it off, mess it up, say no, or sell you out. Secrets get sold, rumors twist everything, and grudges pass from parents to children.

A city that doesn't wait for you

The people of Port Aldrich have their own plans and every option you have. They team up, marry, double-cross and get even, whether you're watching or not. You only know what your informants, the papers and the talk at the bar tell you.

The years go by

Prohibition, the Crash, the war, television, wiretaps: the laws and the rackets change with every decade. Your grandchildren won't live in the same city you did.

When it's over

The game hands you your family's story: what the papers said, and what really happened.
