Nuclear strategy on a living planet. Nations are born, build their towns, economies and railways, trade, rebel and go to war, century after century, all the way to nuclear fire. Watch the world live, or take control of one nation.

Mutually Assured Destruction

Doomsday: M.A.D. is a nuclear strategy game on a living planet. Nations are born on untouched land and write their own history: their towns grow, their economies and railways take shape, their rulers come and go, and their wars sometimes end in nuclear fire. Watch this world live, play god, or take control of one nation.

The Living World

Two to eight nations, each with its own name, tongue, regime and ruler. Towns grow district by district, ministers govern, farms, sawmills, mines, oil wells and uranium mines work real deposits, and railways and shipping lines carry food, wood, ore, oil and uranium.

Nations trade, ally, sign pacts and disarmament accords, go through coups, revolutions and secessions, and fight real wars with fronts, trenches, supply lines and landings, through the industrial, atomic and orbital eras. A Chronicle tells everything that happened.

Your turn

  • Take control of a nation: build, lay your railway, settle colonies, set your taxes, negotiate peace and disarmament, lead your war.

  • Play god: volcanoes, tsunamis, meteor showers, uprisings and weapons on demand.

  • Save your world and come back to it centuries later.

  • Make your own maps: relief, water, forests, biomes, resources, nations and towns.

Destruction you can read

  • 16 weapons, from rocket salvos and MIRVs to the Tsar Bomba, an orbital beam, antimatter and a black hole

  • Volumetric mushroom clouds and blast fronts that knock buildings over and stop against the mountains

  • Craters that cut railways and roads, burning districts, flattened forests, sinking ships

  • The bomb leaves dead land and a nuclear winter

Economy and logistics

Steelworks, refineries and arms factories turn what the land gives into what a war needs. A nation that holds its production chain pays half price for its weapons. Blow up a bridge or sink a tanker and the goods are lost.

For a shorter game

  • War Mode: a crisis that builds from DEFCON 5 to DEFCON 1, each level clearing more weapons. Raise battalions, build tanks and artillery, send fighters, bombers and drones, launch your fleet. Or watch two AIs fight it out.

  • The Duel: two nations, a headquarters, silos and defences each. Saturate their defences, then send the heavy warheads.

Maps and sound

Nine procedural map types, from a small island to a 131 km supercontinent. Real recorded sounds, air-raid sirens, blasts that arrive at the speed of sound, and music that follows the tension.
