Meet the Crusader, Super Pawn and Shield Pawn! Stand guard with a sword, hold the line with a shield, and build a defense like never before. Fuse your pieces to bring these new allies onto the board and discover what they can do!

Arm your king and queen! Send a golden boomerang across the board, or let the king's revolver settle the score in a single shot.

Watch out! A nervous king can't keep a steady aim while in check.

Our promise: every recovered boomerang is ready to be thrown again.

New ways to swap!

New piece-swapping rules make every position less predictable! Turn defense into attack with special castling—or try swapping your king with a bishop!

The proud king's upbringing won't let him swap places with other pieces.

New modes!

Inspired by the river dividing a Chinese chess board, River Crossing adds a current to the contest! Push ahead or go with the flow? The enemy awaits on the other bank.

A black hole has a gravitational pull so powerful that even light cannot escape. What happens when one appears on a chessboard? Find out in Black Hole mode!

Football Mode

When the chessboard becomes a football pitch, your pieces can play a beautiful game! Use a wall to find a route to goal, and collide with opponents to break through their defense. Score a goal or checkmate the king—the choice is yours!

Bumper Mode

Send enemy pieces flying! Your rook is indestructible. Of course, even an indestructible rook can be sent flying off the board.

Shop Mode

Bring an economy to the chessboard! Buy money bags for a steady income, or spend your gold on reinforcements to storm the enemy king. Your stronger army starts at the shop!

Learn the new rules across the board from Sardine-chan, an AI opponent designed to play with them! Play against friends in Chess Gone Wild, or find an opponent through random matchmaking in Steam lobbies. Standard chess clocks and premoves are supported.
