Stray Cloud: An Overcast Story

You are a cloud.

A fairly small cloud, if we're being honest. The other clouds find your size... amusing. The Sun is beating down on your backside. It's time to show them who's boss.

Eat. Rain. Grow.

Steer into smaller clouds to swallow them. Bigger clouds bounce you away, and laugh about it.

Rain is your money, and raining costs you size. Every storm is a choice: be bigger now, or stronger later. Spend your droplets on upgrades that make you faster, thirstier and stormier: Fog, Thunderhead, Tornado, Hurricane, the Jet Stream and more. Upgrades have no top rank, so there's always one more to buy.

From one field to the whole planet

You start over a single field. As you grow, the camera pulls back: the County, the Coast, the Ocean, the Continents, until the Earth itself turns beneath you. Then cover all of it.

Then keep going

Covering a world is only the start. Let it all fall, gather your Cloud Seeds and drift on to the next world. Each one has its own hazards, its own bullies and a new power.

• The Moon: no air, a sun that bites twice as hard, and ice hiding in the shadows of craters.
  
• Mars: sandstorms that take a quarter of you on the way past.
  
• Jupiter: poison gas everywhere, and a few calm white ovals to hide in.
  
• Saturn: pieces of the rings crashing down around you.
  
• Uranus: clouds that smell of rotten eggs. Please, no jokes.
  
• Neptune: winds faster than sound.
  
• Pluto: cold enough to slow you to a crawl.
  
• Venus: acid clouds that spoil your rain.
  
• Mercury: a dawn that dries you out a hundred times faster than at home. Stay ahead of it.
  
• The Sun: the one that's been laughing at you since the very first line.

Bullies, everywhere

Every world has a ladder of bullies who think you're hilarious: Cirrus, Cumulonimbus, the Man in the Moon, Olympus Mons, the Great Red Spot and plenty more. Grow big enough and swallow them. They come back bigger.

Cloud Seeds

Every raindrop forms around a tiny speck of dust: a seed. Hold on to your Cloud Seeds and every droplet is worth more. Or spend them on permanent upgrades like Tailwind, Supercell, Sunscreen and Fertile Ground.

A narrator who is mildly impressed

Over 380 fully voiced lines, wry and warm and packed with real science. An ordinary puffy cloud weighs about as much as a hundred elephants. Don't tell the elephants.
