Geoplanetical
Take one of 177 nations and run it in a real geopolitical simulation: a living economy, debt, taxes, elections, diplomacy, sanctions, nuclear deterrence. Everything is built on real 2026 data, on a true 3D globe. Made by one solo dev who loves the genre and just wanted the game he always dreamed of.
The real world, the day before your first move
Hey. It's just me behind this game. Geoplanetical is the simulation I wanted to play for years, so I ended up building it myself.
It all starts on January 1st, 2026. No invented world, no random numbers: GDP, inflation, debt, budgets, currencies, arsenals, alliances, all seeded from real data (World Bank, IMF, Natural Earth). You pick your nation out of 177 by clicking right on a real 3D globe, and you inherit its exact situation. What happens next is on you.
An economy that actually holds together
Under a readable interface runs a serious economic engine, where every number follows from another.
Real production: growth, inflation (Phillips curve) and unemployment (Okun's law) emerge from the same mechanics as the real thing.
A deep fiscal model: dozens of taxes at real rates and just as many spending programs, Laffer curves, automatic stabilizers. Raise VAT, and prices answer back.
Sovereign debt: the average rate on your debt stock, a bond market, rating agencies that downgrade notch by notch, default or money-printing.
Living currencies: real money, float, managed, peg, currency board or union regimes (euro, CFA), imported inflation, and real currency crises when a peg breaks.
A world economy: over 100 goods in production chains, comparative advantage, trade that balances out, and shocks (OPEC, harvests, strikes) that ripple through prices.
Power, for real
Governing means dealing with everyone who can bring you down.
Elections and coalitions: spatial voting across several ideological axes, real election dates, government formation, cordon sanitaire, votes of no confidence.
A living parliament: you table bills, open the debates, count the seats. Many laws with named tiers, each with real consequences.
9 social groups: farmers, workers, executives, retirees and more. Each with its own income, wealth, satisfaction and anger. Your choices move them, and they vote.
Diplomacy, sanctions and deterrence
Living relations: real bloc alignments, alliances, foreign aid, soft power.
Multilateral sanctions: real 2026 regimes, coalitions that form on their own, several channels (trade, finance, energy, tech), a cost to whoever does the sanctioning, and circumvention over time.
Nuclear: a full fuel cycle, the triad, MIRV, second-strike capability, proliferation and the NPT, a balance of terror against your rivals.
A real globe, a real interface
Earth turns under a sun that genuinely rises, with a day and night cycle, atmosphere and astronomical seasons. Underneath, 4,596 provinces form the world's substrate. On top, a dark, modular command center interface, built to be deep without becoming unreadable. And you can fast-forward time without the simulation of all 177 countries falling behind.
Made by a player, for players
I'm a solo dev, and first of all a fan of the genre. Geoplanetical will grow with its community. Join the Discord, tell me what's missing, what bugs you, what you dream of. We build this together.
